He had been sleeping all day after a late night. His hair was sticking up in all places and looked all greasy, he was hoping that he wouldn't have to take a shower today, rather wait till the next morning, when he had a hangover or something and really needed the cool water. Alexander rubbed a hand through it hair before jumping back onto his bed, wanting to go back to sleep. He lay face down like that for a few more minutes before going into the bathroom, determined to start his day. He undressed and went into the shower, shivering at how cold it was. Luckily, Alex didn't take slow showers. He was out of there is less than five minutes. He brush his hair for point two seconds before jokingly winking at himself in the mirror, "Lookin' good Zander."
Luckily no one was in the dorm room to witness his bit of vanity and insanity. Alex reasoned that everyone was probably at breakfast, scratch that, lunch. He took his time getting dressed, taking out a pair of skinnyish blue jeans and a plain white tee shirt, throwing a patagonia sweater on top. He took out his white converse and laced them up before taking a quick look in the mirror and going. He walked into the common room, getting a few hellos thrown at him and "Did you just wake up?"s. He just smiled in response, asking a few of his fellow fourth years if they wanted to go down and have a quick bite to eat. He walked down to lunch and took his seat next to a group of fourth years and some fifth years. It was mostly boring conversation, people complaining about the new essay that they got in transfiguration and "When will that woman finally die?" Alex tuned it out until he heard talk about the halloween ball. He had almost forgotten that was tonight. He had tried to ask Lily to it, but "She had already made plans," Alex sincerely doubted it, considering that he had asked her way before anyone was even thinking about the ball. Good thing he had found a backup date, some hufflepuff bimbo that had looked positively ecstatic at the prospect of going to the ball. He looked at the time, 1:30. Just enough time to get his homework done and plan his outfit, maybe even sneaking a nap in there too.
It was around six was Alex was completely done with his homework and helping others. He was heading up the numerous flights of stairs trying to think of what to be. His original thought was vampire because he could just wear a cape and make two of his teeth look longer and then he would be done, but apparently a lot of people were already doing that. What else was there? I could be like a muggle sports player or a Greek god or something... maybe I just won't dress up. Oh come on, Alexander Michael Nott, don't be a prat and not dress up for Halloween. What was that muggle guys name? Alex smiled as he had the perfect costume in mind. He went up to his dorm room and put on his tux, getting a fellow Ravenclaw girl to help with the bow tie before finding his roommates water gun and dying it black, and putting it in his jacket pocket. He quaffed his hair back and walked down to go pick up his date from her common room.
They made mindless chatter before heading to the dance, Alex slightly regretting taking this girl. He sighed as she tried to hold his hand, him faking a cough so he could get it bad. Luckily, at that moment they reached the party scene. It was all very festive looking, but Alex expected the best from Hogwarts, the way his parents always bragged about it to their French relatives who went to Beauxbatons. Alex got his date some punch before they glided onto the dance floor, his ballroom dancing lessons as a child paying off. For some reason, the pureblood society seemed to think that a manners camp was necessary for ten year olds. As he was dancing (one, two, three, one, two, three, turn he noticed a bright flash of red, belonging to none other than his lovely Lily. He smiled as he tried to dance closer and closer to her, eventually giving his date a quick kiss on the cheek and telling her that he had to talk to a friend. The girl blushed and ran off to her friends giggling, making Alex roll his eyes. He then approached Lily and her date, "Mind if I cut in? My, don't you look dashing tonight, Lily." He complimented, easily leading her across the dance floor.

lily yawned loudly, wondering what time it was. by no means was the youngest potter a lazy person. if anything, she was an early bird. but she had woken up before breakfast even started so byt the time lunch rolled around, well, lily had completely passed out. she looked for a clock that would tell her what time it was, but when she saw it, she wished she didn't have. lily only one hour and a half to get ready for the dance. she practically jumped out of bed, stripping off her clothes and jumping into the shower. growing up in a house with two boys was not easy, especially when you shared a bathroom with them. so lily was an expert on getting ready in less time. the only problem was, that this was a special event not just a random outing. her brothers had actually let her go to the dance, though they had to choose the date. lily didn't mind, anything was good with her. that was until she realized that they chose the most peculiar boy for her. lily really didn't want to judge but she couldn't help herself, the boy was just odd. still, lily rushed to get ready and in fifteen minutes, she was out of the shower.
the was the easy part though, lily still had to fix her hair and put on her costume. now, lily wasn't into the whole wearing slutty outfits for halloween. in lily's mind, the cutest outfit always won. which was why she had chosen to be alice from that book that she had read back when she was in a muggle school. on the cover, it looked a bit slutty but lily's stature made it so the dress fit perfectly. she slid it over her head and tied it in the back. she grabbed a pair of ballet flats from under her bed. she knew that she was tiny, but wearing hells would just be a disaster for the poor girl. she had horrible coordination and in the end, hells would just hurt her feet too much, so lily opted out on the heels. she grabbed some of her make-up, most of it new since she never used it. lily thought about what her mother told her about each thing, doing her make-up as pretty as possible. once she thought that it looked good enough, it was time for the hard part. her hair. she had read dozens of books but none ever taught you how to do your own hair. so lily had asked one of her roommates, and surprise surprise, she had a book on it.
the spells sounded funny to lily who usually let her hair dry naturally. she flipped through pages till she found the perfect hairstyle. her hair was short so it didn't look like the picture, but she did look as close to alice in wonderland as she could. she looked at the time once more, glad to say that she had fifteen minutes to spare. lily smiled as she grabbed a headband and placed it on her head, and skipped out of the room. she looked around for her date and was tapped on the shoulder. she turned to see jonathan, this kid in her herbology class. lily smiled at him and followed him as he led her to the great hall. lily pulled at her dress, unsure of her apperance. everyone else looked so beautiful, and lily just felt as plain as ever. anyways, the halloween dance was already getting started by the time they got there. the decorations looked divine, and lily couldn't wait for the night to get started. sure, she wished she would have had a better date but he as better than no date. lily turned to look at him, he was dressed as a devil type thing. lily could tell the costume was home-made, and she liked the creativity but she did wish she had a date a bit less, sinister looking.
anyways, he invited her out to dance, and before lily could even answer, her pulled her out on to the dance-floor. lily wasn't the greatest dancer, and neither was jonathan. still, both tried their best and lily was actually starting to have a bit of fun. until a familiar voice rang through her ear. she turned only to see that alex had found her. now who was alex? well only the world's most arrogant git, that's who he was. he was the boy that bothered lily to no end just because he liked her. any other girl might have been thrilled to have the attention, but lily wasn't as foolish. she was about to tell alex no, when he practically kidnapped her to the other end of the dancefloor. she gave jonathan an i'm-sorry look, before glaring at alex. " i never said you could cut in, alex" lily stated. she hated being mean, if anything it was impossible for her to be rude. well, to anyone except alex.

. { ❀ } . YOU'DFLYUPACROSSTHESKYJUST TO PROVE YOUR POINT NOW WOULDN'T YOU?• { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • Alex rolled his eyes at Lily's insistence on being mean to him. It wasn't like he was a horrible guy, right? Telling a girl you like her wasn't something bad, he saw plenty of guys asked girls out. Some of them asked the girls out in more extravagant ways than he did with Lily. He just didn't get it. Why did she never accept? He was good looking, intelligent, funny, popular, Quidditch player (which means he has to be muscular), and just an overall good guy. He was like perfect boyfriend material! And the fact that he was willing to openly defy her two brothers, James Sirius Potter and Albus Severus Potter, had to mean something because if he dated her, he was going to get the shit kicked out of him. That's why Lily did not get to have boyfriends because of her stupid brothers always protecting her. It'd be fine if they hexed the shit out of him after he broke her heart or something, but even before a relationship started was too much. Somehow, the two brothers must not have heard of Alex's insistence to date their sister otherwise he didn't think he'd still be in Hogwarts anymore.
A smile found it's way onto Alex's face as Lily told him she never said it was okay to cut in. He chuckled a little at her determination to be mean to him. Sometimes Alex found it amusing when he saw her helping little kids and then the second he got there, it was like a whole different person. He purposely dipped her a bit so she would be thrown off balance and be forced to lean into him. Alex smirked as he got the desired result, "You don't look too unhappy plus a little bird told me that you were getting tired of your date and that he couldn't dance well. Lucky for you, I took ballroom classes when I was younger. So, why didn't you let me take you to the dance? Also it's polite to say thank you when someone compliments you." Alex knew he was just being annoying now and that she wouldn't appreciate it, but did it really matter? She treated him the same when he was nicer, plus the rejection didn't hurt as much when he knew he was being an asshole. He could just shrug it off then. Alex turned his attention to the beautiful girl in front of him, rather than dwelling on his own problems.
Lily was wearing a cute Alice in Wonderland outfit that would have looked pretty skanky on other girls, but Lily just looked adorable. She had her hair done all nicely and she was wearing cute ballet flats instead of ten inch heels like some of the other girls, which he respected. Her 5'4 frame against his 5'11 was rather nice and he liked her having to look up at him all the time, just because he then got to see all of her face when she talked, plus he knew she thought it was kind of annoying. Who wouldn't find it annoying to have to look up all the time to talk to people? "So, Lily, how come you were allowed to go to this dance? I thought your brothers usually don't want you to..." Alex was just trying to make light conversation and get rid of the tension that was clearly between them, mostly on her side. Alex waltzed along to the music, hoping that some of the teachers would file out soon so they could start the wizard rock, rather than listen to the classical composers attempt at a school dance. Hopefully an after party or something would happen, the Gryffindor house usually threw banging parties. "Know of any banging after parties, Lily? Am I really this bad?"

now, lily knew that she shouldn't have been that rude, but alex just got under her skin. usually, she would have gotten her brothers to deal with the boy on her own but james was friends with alex and she didn't want to ruin the boys friendship. still, she did wish that her brother would notice alex's countless attempts of getting lily to go out with him. her own friends found it strange that she wouldn't accept the boy's love, but lily believed in the whole being friends thing. after all, how could she go out with a boy that knew nothing about her. hell, the only thing that he knew about her was that she was pretty and even she didn't think that was true. it was funny, the one boy that she actually wanted her brother's to keep away went unnoticed, while countless others whose attention she desired were chased away. anyways, she looked around to see if her brothers were around but everyone she saw was too busy with their own dates/friends. lily sighed as she looked at alex. he was a better dancer than jonathan, that was for sure. lily was having a hard time just keeping up with him. even with her ballet flats, she was still uncoordinated and she had to watch her feet just to make sure that she didn't step on him. then again, stepping on him didn't seem like such a bad idea.
the thought was quickly shooed away when alex dipped her. the fear of falling got the better of her, and when he brought her back up, she couldn't help but hold on the boy. lily quickly regained her composure though and kept as much distance and she possible could. lily rolled her eyes at the mention of ballroom classes and her date. did he really believe that she would be impressed by that? "for your information, i was having a lovely time with my date before you so rudely interrupted." she lied. jonathan was nice and all, but who was lily kidding. the dancing was horrible and they spent most of the time just laughing over how horrible they were. she looked around once more, and smiled when she saw that he had found someone else to dance with. at least one of her was happy. "well i didn't, so i would be delighted if you never dip me like that again." lily said. she thought about his questions but all of the answers were inappropriate and would surely get her in trouble if anyone heard her. "because i did not want to go with an arrogant boy that likes to steal other people's dates. boys like that do not deserve dates or thank yous" lily answered. while waiting for his response, lily took the time to see his outfit.
and that was when the laughing began. now she didn't go into an all out laughing fit, but she couldn't help but laugh loudly. he was dressed like that guy from the movie that hes brothers were always gushing about. lily had to admit, it was more original than the dozens of vampires that were all around her. aside from that, he looked rather handsome. lily quickly shooed that thought away. there was no way that she could find someone as annoying and obnoxious as alex to be even slightly handsome. lily waited anxiously for the song to finish so that she could go off and hide from alex. her first dance really wasn't what she was expecting. lily shrugged her shoulders when alex asked about her presence at the dance. "probably because they got to choose my date" she mumbled. at this point, she didn't mind if he heard her. she had already lost her date so what else did she have to lose. " you're joking right? do you actually think my brothers would let me know about any parties" lily said. was he really that stupid? not he wasn't, but still the question was stupid. everyone knew that her brothers kept all their parties a secret from their baby sister. lily thought about it. he wasn't all that horrible but he wasn't all that great either. "yes, you really are. well at least when you're being all obnoxious." lily admitted.

. { ❀ } . YOU'DFLYUPACROSSTHESKYJUST TO PROVE YOUR POINT NOW WOULDN'T YOU?• { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • Using his James Bond like skills, Alexander scoped the room, seeing if the Potter boys were preoccupied and where they were. He had been quite lucky so far, befriending James and keeping out of their way, but he didn't know how James (or Albus Severus) would react when they same him dancing with their little sister. Every once in awhile, James would bring up the conversation of girls and who he thought Alex should date and whatnot. Every time Alex came in the with intention of coming clean to James about his liking Lily, but whenever the words "lily" and "dating" came up, James got all red in the face and his fists clenched up. Alex had tried to convince James to let her come to this dance awhile ago, when he first heard the prefects planning it, but James had gotten all defensive about letting his little sister go with some sleazy guy that they didn't know anything about. Which was about when Alex suggested that it be someone they know and James almost hugged him. Of course, Alex wasn't put on the list because why would he want to go with Lily? And Alexander Michael Nott was not going to ask James Potter to be put on the list, that would be suicide and he rather enjoyed having James as a friend. Alex went back to scoping out the room, noticing that Severus and James were on the same side, so he just had to lead her the other way, to the left, that would be easy enough... he hoped.
They danced across the room, farther away from the Potter boys because although Alex was a friend, they could turn on him any second and he really did not fancy the shit being kicked out of him tonight. The good thing was that James probably wouldn't believe Lily if she told him that Alex harassed her as she always so kindly put it because James didn't really think he was that kind of guy. Or he would confront Alex and he would shrug it off and come up with some lame ass excuse. "I'm sure you were having a great time, I could see that you guys were having the most fascinating conversation," he said drily, commenting on the fact that they had been pretty silent when they had entered the hall, before the couple had failed at dancing. Alex followed Lily's gaze to her date, Jonathan, where he was dancing with his old date. "Looks like we're stuck with each other for now, Lils." Sometimes Alex was really asking for a beating, like when he used the nickname "Lils". It wasn't like he and Lily talked much except for fighting, which barely counted. Sometimes it was fun to see how cute she got when she was riled up, she looked so adorable. "As you wish," Alex quoted with a smirk. It was probably bad that he knew so many muggle movies, especially girly ones. Ew. Girls. Boys rule girls drool, number one fact to live on.
"Aw, you're hurting Jonathan's feelings with those mean comments. I don't think he deserves the title arrogant git, seemed like a nice guy too. But looks can be deceiving I guess," Alex scrunched up his eyebrows in confusion. Why was she laughing? Was she drunk already? He didn't think he brothers would like that. Or worse, did somebody drug her drink?! "Lily, are you okay?" Luckily her little outbreak didn't cause too much of a distraction and her brothers weren't even paying attention. Lily seemed to sense that she wouldn't be going back to her date any time this evening and confessed to him that her brothers picked him... not that he didn't know that already, but he pretended like it was new information. Alex chuckled heartily before replying, "Now, Lily, do you really expect me to believe that you can't find out about parties unless your brothers tell you about them? I mean, sure, they might not let you go, but don't try some innocent school girl act with me. You're about as prankstery conniving as they are, just more quiet about it." He smiled at her insistence to make it seem like her brothers let nobody tell her anything. Girls always discussed the after parties before hand and came up with backup plans if they needed to leave and such, he usually heard about the parties from his girl friends. The people in Lily's dorm room must have discussed it at some point, otherwise she just had lame roomies. Alex smirked at her comment, knowing full well that her believing that he was obnoxious (which he wasn't fully denying) was why she had decided not to like him. "So you don't like me all the time then?" He said cheekily, making a comment about being obnoxious constantly. Alex smiled and turned her a bit, making her twirl.

lily had to admit, alex wasn't as bad as when she first met him. she had actually had a miniature crush on him until he opened his big mouth and lost all his chances. he wasn't a jerk but he did think very highly of himself. and to lily, that was a big no-no. alex continued to lead her all around the room, making it impossible for lily to locate her brothers. shouldn't they have like sibling telepathy or something like that? the thought was actually pretty funny, but lily was much more worried about getting away from alex. it felt nice though, just dancing with alex. he wasn't that bad of a guy when he kept his mouth shut. wait, what was lily thinking? of course alex was a horrible guy. well not horrible, but he was an annoying and self-centered prick. lily rolled her eyes. obviously, alex would have been watching her when she was with jonathan. was it really that obvious that they were having a bit of a boring time? lily doubted it, that was just alex trying to get her to admit that she made the wrong choice by coming with someone who wasn't him. but she wouldn't fall for that, she was much smarter than that. "have you ever thought that maybe we feel so comfortable with each other that we don't need words. then again, you really wouldn't know anything about that." lily stated. what did this boy have that made lily so rude. she just felt like making him feel bad each and every time that he was around her.
lily was sure she was making it up to him by staying with him instead of just struggling the entire time. it took lily a moment to realize that the girl that was dancing with jonathan, was the same girl that alex had brought to the dance. not that she noticed him at all. god, lily's emotions were really all over the place. she hated alex, but at the same time, she noticed everything about him. hell, she was a bit jealous of the girl he came with. lily thought he would come alone and keep trying to woo her instead of just moving on. the fact that he brought someone else didn't work in his favor. or maybe it did, seeing as he ended up with lily in the end. at least until her brothers saw him, if they ever took a moment to just look around. "well we wouldn't be stuck with each other if you had stayed with your date." lily placed extra emphasis on date, making it seem like she was a little jealous. which she wasn't, it just came out like that. lily was actually doing a good job of convincing herself that this ball was just a waste of time. she lost her date, was with a boy she detested, and she was sure that her hair was a mess. "and just so you know, only my friends call me lils" she continued. lily smiled, glad she finally got her way with something. "very funny, the arrogant git i was taking about was you. jonathan is actually very sweet and polite. and you got that right, you look like a charming boy but you said, looks can be deceiving."
now lily never smirked, except when she was around alex. her shyness away faded and she felt confident about every word that came out of her mouth. given, most of them were hurtful, but still. lily wasn't surprised that she was shocked by her little outburst. "yeah, it's just. do you realize what you're wearing" lily laughed. honestly, it was freaking amazing. alex might have many things wrong with him, but his creativity was all right with lily. she didn't know if it was wrong to tell alex about her arranged date, but she didn't care at the moment. after all, a normal date wouldn't just leave the person they asked behind. except for maybe alex. that boy really did need a lesson in manners. "thanks, i guess. they threaten anyone that might tell me but i guess most of the time i am able to find out because ... " lily kept her mouth shut after that. who knows, alex might just tell her brother who tells her about parties then that person would hate lily. "yes! i don't like you all the time." lily said. she held her dress with her free hand as alex twirled her. the dress had tulle at the bottom but lily didn't want to risk falling or moving in a strange way that would make her dress show something that she didn't want. "honestly, boy, i feel like you just want me to dislike you all the time" lily commented once her stopped twirling her. if was rather fun and lily felt like she was actually getting the hand of everything. but she wasn't about to tell alex that she was actully having fun dancing with him.

Oh this girl was going to be the death of him, constantly trying to seem as though she was in complete control of things and everything he did was wrong. It was amusing and challenging to be with her plus he was smitten with her. Alex shook his head, still laughing at her insistence that her and Jonathan were the best of friends and that she was the one who wanted to go with him. Obviously her brothers had chose him because he would be nice enough to not try to pull anything on their sister and would be afraid of them. It was simple logic they used. Anyone would be afraid of the boys if they messed with their sister. Hell, Alex was and he hadn't exactly pulled anything on her yet, besides dancing with her, which he didn't think James would really mind, but if Severus saw them, well, he didn't know what would happen because he had never really talked to the Slytherin brother. "I'm sure you guys are the best of friends and completely understand each others thoughts and that's why you guys weren't speaking at all. The uncoordinated dancing actually meant that even though you're bodies are uncoordinated, your thoughts are very much in sync." Alex wasn't even quite sure was he was saying, he was just making up shite. "Maybe I talk so much because I love to hear your voice respond."
"Do I detect a hint of jealously? You could've just said yes, ya know, rather than have me ditch our dates for us. Oh, and I apologize for making you stay in my presence my dear lady," Alex's eyes flickered over to where he knew their dates were dancing together, he did feel a little bit bad for Jonathan because he seemed like a nice guy, but his date was just hopeless, he didn't know if she even knew how to string words together to form a sentence. Not that he was judging her or anything... "Precisely, that's why I called you that," Alex winked at her, fully knowing that he wasn't her friend, but he wished to be. "Oooh, so you think I look charming?" Alex spun Lily away from him, only holding onto her with his left hand as he stuck a charming pose. He laughed and spun her back closer to him. Dancing could be fun. "But I'll apologize to Jonathan later for taking away his beautiful date."Alex continued to look at Lily curiously, her little outburst was still amusing. "I would hope I know what I'm wearing as I put it on. Why, am I naked or something? I thought you would have noticed the nudity by now. But yes, I'm wearing a tux and have a squirt gun painted black in my pocket because I'm..." Drum roll please, "Bond, James Bond. I take it you know who he is?" Alex listened closely, excited to learn who told Lily about all the parties without her brothers knowing. Honestly, sometimes those boys were just way too over protective, he wouldn't be surprised that once they both graduated Lily became a party girl or something. They were just making her more curious by not letting her go, anyways, fourth years were usually kicked out after awhile, when it became fifth and up. Sometimes Alex got to stay either because of his Quidditch connections or if he brought an older date. Which was usually his plan so that he could stay. "Really? Stopping at the climax? Disappointing, Red," he wasn't going to inquire further because he James found out that he had known this, boy, Alex didn't even want to think about the consequences. "Well, if it keeps you talking to me and the conversation interesting, then why not? Enjoying the spinning? I rather like to spin too," Alex turned himself around a few times, making Lily take the male part, it was rather fun turning about and losing control. He must've looked ridiculous. • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • [/blockquote] WORDS! six eight six TAGS! the lovely lillyyy OUTFIT! bond, james bond CREDIT! lyrics from "Strong Enough" by Tal Bachmen, template by zee of caution NOTES! lilys so adorable

if it was any other person, lily would have been happy to have them take her away from the nightmare that was jonathan. he was nothing like her, even lily had a sense of humor. but she wanted alex to know that any boy was better than him, though she didn't really mean it. lily was going to make him see that they were not meant to be together, they weren't even meant to be in the same room together. the only reason he was dancing with her was because he stole her away and that was it. oh poor lily didn't realize that there was something forming between them. she was too busy blinded by her annoyance of alex. and it was easy to say, that she would do just about anything to annoy him even more than he annoyed her. "yeah, you wouldn't understand. you're idea of getting close to a girl probably involves snogging her. i doubt you know anything about having an actual connection with someone." harsh, but in lily's mind it was true. after all, look at the date that he had brought with him. not that she wasn't lovely, but she didn't seem like the fastest broom in the shed. "and don't bring my uncoordinated dancing into this, i told you i didn't have ballroom dance lessons. and neither did he, it's just another thing that jonathan and i have in common and you and i don't!" lily exclaimed.
lily knew that the whole idea of jonathan and her being similar was extremely hilarious. but laughing would just prove alex that he was right and doing that would just give him an even bigger head. the whole reason that lily was there was to deflate that big head of his. who knew, maybe she would deflate it so much that he might actually transform into a decent, still as attractive, person. one could only imagine. at that comment, lily's cheeks turned the same shade of red that her hair had. "oh shut up" she demanded. lily frowned. her? jealous? as if. if she wanted to, she could have gone to the dance with alex, he did ask her first. but she wasn't. and she would continued to deny if no matter what. "actually i am, i'm jealous that she got to stay with the better date" lily said. lily didn't even bother commenting on that. she knew it would just get her angrier and she would be tempted to just yell out her brothers' names so that they could take alex away from her. but she didn't want to make a scene or have alex beaten up on the night of the ball. just this once, she would give in to him because she really wouldn't be able to have a much better time than this. "no... was that really the only thing that you got from that?"
lily nodded. why else would she laugh? then again, not many people knew about those movies. lily found them stupid herself, she was more into those horror movies that made it impossible for her to go to sleep. but as a costume, it was pretty funny. "my brothers love watching those movies, we had muggle friends that always talked about them" lily added. now lily was not a snitch. she knew her brothers would get angry with the person who told them, and could possibly kick his butt. who was this person? well a cute fifth year that lily had been friend with since her second year. she didn't like him but she did like his friendship and she wasn't going to let alex go an tell her brothers about it. "well i wouldn't want you to tell my brothers about it, now would i?" lily asked. no matter what his answer was, or how he tried to convince her, lily would not tell him about her source of information. in the end it didn't matter, she wasn't hard to spot at a party and she got kicked out of them anyways. damn her red hair! "so you're saying you want me to dislike you?" lily asked. if that was the case, then he was doing a great job of it, though he might want to rethink it. though lily was talking to him at that moment, it didn't mean that it would happen all the time. he was just getting lucky for once.
lily couldn't hold in a smile as alex switched places with her. it was especially funny since lily was a tiny thing, so alex had to bend down just to be able to spin. maybe this night wasn't so bad.

Now, it wasn't like he had truly had a long term girlfriend, but he was only fifteen for god sakes! He wasn't ready to settle down and lived a long whipped life. But that wasn't to say that he didn't care about the people that he had dated briefly, the relationships just hadn't worked out. "Now, as hard as this could be to believe for you Lily, I have been in relationships longer than a snog. Which is more to say that you methinks," Alex replied, a little harsher than he meant it. Who did she think she was commenting on his life like that anyway? It wasn't like she had had any experience in it anyways. Alex sighed, recovering quickly from his brief moment of annoyance. "Well, you know what they say, opposites attract," Alex winked flirtatiously at her as he twirled her. Lily could just be so infuriating at points. If she would just take a chance a go on one date with him, he would be satisfied, but she wouldn't even try it. She didn't even know what he was like. It wasn't his fault that he suddenly became an arse around her and screwed things up. He really was a decent person, even if she didn't care to acknowledge it. He helped tutor little kids with their stupid bloody homework, but of course Lily didn't notice that behavior.
LILY'S short response of 'shut up' confirmed for him a little bit that Lily must like him a little... or wanted to accept his proposal a little. Knowing Lily as he did, if she was really against his observing that she was jealous, she would've flipped out and not brushed it aside to easily, as if she was hiding something. Sadly, she quickly recovered with a witty remark about being jealous of his date being with Jonathan. "Blah, blah, blah. Do you ever stop complaining? Just enjoy this as best you can because we've already discussed how we can't go back to our dates now. So please, don't be such a downer on this lovely evening that I'm sure the prefects and heads worked very hard on," Alex said, coming off a little more serious than he wanted to, but the least she could do was enjoy the moment, especially since she had a curfew and they had been dancing awhile, which meant she would have to leave soon. Not that leaving meant the end of the night for either of them. Alex smiled, nodding at Lily. "Yup, you think I look charming. Well, just for your information, you look fantastic all the time," he winked again before leading her in a different direction as a tango was announced. "Ooo, I do love a good tango. See if you can keep up." Alex smiled a led Lily in some fancy footwork.
ALEX let out a chuckle, James and Severus watching James Bond? He could see it happening, probably ending up with them fighting and James being James Bond with Severus being the villan because James seemed like the superhero playing type. "I could see that. Where'd you guys get the videos then? I know I had to watch them at my muggles friends houses," if James had some of the Bond videos, Alex wanted them. It was nearly impossible to find them and get a TV in the wizarding community or at least where James lived, seeing as they weren't really muggle tolerant in his family. When would they learn? "Fine, fine, I won't push you on it. I'll let you have your secrets, but if we start dating I have a zero-tolerance on secrets policy," he stated because they would date at one point, if it was the last thing Alexander Michael Nott did with his life. "Only if you it makes you coming back to talk to me. If I was boring then you would find no interest and have no fun in speaking with me. Even though we fight, witty banter is always fun, see?" Problem was, Alex's logic didn't really make much sense to anyone. "Plus I don't really mean to be an arse, it just happens around you," he mumbled, twirling her again so she didn't notice his slip up. He couldn't have her thinking that he was weak or something. Alex smiled as Lily laughed at him, at least he had done something right.

lily understood that they were both still pretty young, and probably not even ready for relationships. but that did not give him the right to snog every girl that he could. hell, lily was barely allowed to have a relationship, let alone have the permission to kiss someone. alex was using it selfishly, which was why she would never even consider being with him. he was just... he couldn't even be put into words. after lily's angry thoughts about alex finished, she couldn't help but have more angry thoughts after what he told her. it was not like it was her fault that she was not allowed to be with anyone. if it was up to her, she would already have a boyfriend. did alex not realize that she actually had feelings as well. then again, she was acting like a bit of a jerk. damn him lily thoughts, she had actually made her feel guilty. "well, that's hard to believe seeing as you're with a different girl each time i see you. and it's not like i chose to not be in a relationship. in case you haven't noticed, every boy is to afraid of my brothers to even try!" lily argued. she was glad to finally get that out of her, and she did think that they would just continue arguing, until she heard what he said next. "you don't actually believe that, do you?" lily asked. truth be told, the thought actually sounded nice but when you experienced it first hand like she did, you knew that opposites didn't really attract. if anything, opposites wanted to kill each other anytime they could, at least one of them did.
how she wished that she had actually been able to come up with a good response. if it had not been obvious that lily hated when he was around girls, well it was obvious now. though lily was sure that alex must have thought that was the reason she hated him. aside from his big ego and arrogant nature. but she was sure that was the whole reason why he was always with girls, because they inflated his ego and made him think he was the best thing in the world. which he wasn't, at least not to lily. "the only reason i complain, is because you do stupid things like taking my date away. if you didn't want to hear my complaining, then you would have just left me alone" lily snapped. her evening was already ruined, though the dancing had been fun. at least when alex kept his mouth shut. still, she stopped talking about it, hoping that the evening could get a little better, it wasn't like it could get any worse. "wow, you really are something. and no, i did not mean that in a good way" lily lied. he was different than the other guys. he was extremely arrogant but he did make her laugh. no, lily needed to stop thinking that there was anything good about alex. she had to keep hating him, for her own sake. "you're just saying that because.. well i don't know why you're even saying that but i do no it's not true" lily confessed. she was not the most secure girl in the world, that was one of the reasons she even had an eating disorder. luckily, alex had not noticed that she had not eaten anything throughout this entire dance.
"oh god" lily thought, as alex led her in the tango. she would be lucky if she didn't fall flat on her face. "well, my dad's cousin sent us the movies for james' birthday.. he's a muggle and i guessed he overhead one of the boys talking about it when we went to visit" lily said. thought they all hated going to their uncle's house, it did have it's upside. he would send them cool muggle stuff for their , well at least the boys. lily always got clothes and stuff because her uncle knew nothing about girls. lily rolled her eyes, but kept the smile on her face when alex said that. she wasn't sure if it was because she was sure they would never date, or because she believed it a little bit. nope, it was definitely not the latter. "keep dreaming" lily answered back. she didn't have time to answer back because jonathan had returned once more, telling lily that her brother was looking for them. she quickly looked at alex and smiled. so, maybe he wasn't as bad as she thought that he was and he did tell her sweet things, but she refused to believe that he was anything better than an arse. "well, nice to know i'm the reason you're an arse." lily joked, before being rushed by jonathan. she told him to wait a moment before she turned to alex once more. "i'll be back, don't think you're getting rid of me that easily" lily said.
