It was a Wednesday afternoon. Classes had ended for the day, and Darla was lucky enough to have already finished her Transfigurations essay. Normally she’d meet Nick at the time, but he’d scheduled an emergency quidditch practice right after he’d been injured. Dom was finishing her homework, and even Celia was preoccupied. It dawned on the Ravenclaw girl that for the first time in what seemed to be ages, not only was she alone, but she had nothing to do. With a heavy sigh, as though all her weights and burdens had been lifted off of her, she exited her common room, just wandering the castle, looking for something to do.
Along her stroll down the stairs, she’d seen a number of things which from the third person perspective, the one seeing everything out of context, proved to be quite hilarious. On the sixth floor, ghosts were fencing, screaming explicatives at one another. The fifth floor had a small fire in the middle of the hallway, probably as a trap for some poor other student. First years ran down the fourth floor as Peeves the Poltergeist harassed them as best he could. Then the second floor was unsurprisingly flooded, a wailing Myrtle could be heard throughout the corridor.
It was when Darla hit the first floor that she’d decided to venture outside. Nothing seemed peaceful and open enough in the castle. Though the Astronomy Tower was an option, the last few times up there always ended in tears, and Darla wasn’t looking for tears. She’d continued her walk down the hills of the grounds, adjusting her blue jumper as the wind picked up. The sound of brooms and shouting caught her attention over to the quidditch pitch momentarily, seeing the wave of dark green cloaks in the air. She smiled slightly, thinking of Nick up there before continuing her walk. Ultimately, she found herself sitting near the black lake, watching the giant squid flail it’s tentacles around some hundred meters away.

Wednesdays were by far the worst day of the week. Many people would argue that they were not worse than Mondays, but he would have to disagree. The only bad thing about Mondays were waking up from two days of relaxation, but once he was awake, Simon was well rested and ready to take on a day. However, Wednesday was in the middle of the school week, and it was a depressing thought that you had completed two days of school, only for two more to come before you got a nice break. In his opinion, it should be a day off as well. A nice break in the middle of the week would be amazing. He was sure no one else would mind it either. Who seriously liked Wednesdays?
Classes had seemed to drag today, and as soon as he had been dismissed from his last class, potions, he had practically gone running out into the hallway only to realize that he had nothing to do for the evening. There was a stack of homework waiting for him back in the dormitories, homework he certainly had no plans to complete, so he would not want to even go in there and think about that. The common room would surely be filled with students on a boring night like tonight, and he really wasn't in the kind of mood that made him want to listen of the odd conversations from gryffindors of all years. Some of them could actually get pretty...strange. But he couldn't spend all night wandering the corridors, that would just be boring. So without a second thought, he stepped outside. There was always something new to be seen on the Hogwarts grounds.
It was a nicer day outside, for December. It wasn't raining, which was always a plus and it wasn't too cold out. As long as the wind didn't blow, he'd be fine to be outside for awhile. Simon walked along the grounds, pausing for a brief moment when he heard the sounds of a team practising for quidditch. Gryffindor? The sight of one player who was flying high in a green cloak proved that was a wrong guess, and he continued on. He didn't give a rats ass about the Slytherin quidditch team. They were all jerks.
He walked until he reached the lake, and it surprised him to see another person was sitting there. He walked towards the girl, figuring he could at least get some sort of conversation going that could amuse him for an hour or so, if he was lucky. However, when he got close he found that he recognized the girl sitting there, and grinned. "well, look who i found." he commented, sitting next to her. "maybe wednesdays aren't so bad after all."
[oh lord, i apologize for the piece of crap you just had to read. i have no idea where my muse went.] [/font]
