Dominique Weasley was pissed beyond belief. She growled in frustration as she threw her bag on the ground, ripped her shoes and socks off and quickly doing a heating spell on her feet, plunged them into the ice cold water of the Black Lake. She'd had a bad day, a very bad one and she felt as if she would explode if she didn't say anything. She had forgotten her Potions assignment in her dorm, her lunch had spilled all over her Charms textbook and her Quidditch Practice had been absolute rubbish.
"Urgh! I hate my life!" she said through gritted teeth and closed her eyes, lying back on the ground and sighing. She took a few deep breaths to calm herself down, until her heart beat had slowed down and rage had simmered down to disappointment. She wouldn't let something like this bring her down, but she could already feel her initial optimism ooze out of her. She needed somebody to cheer her up, make her feel bright and shiny again. She sighed again, letting the cold grass chill against her neck, a stark contrast against her toasty, wet feet.
She felt a faint shadow block the sunlight coming in her eyes and squinted, shading her eyes with her hand.
She sat up, so that she could see the person's face and raised a brow.

Cam wasn't expecting company when he went to the Black Lake.
It was his break period and he decided that he needed a little sunshine. He was becoming far too pale for his liking, making him look like a vampire, or so he tells himself. But he knew that being pale has nothing to do with being a vampire and he needed to get out of the castle and breathe some fresh air. Or at least get a change of scenery since the inside of Hogwarts was getting a bit boring and repetitive for his tastes.
That's why he decided to go to the lake. Maybe talk to the squid or something (most likely read a book) since he didn't have many friends and his break was at an odd hour, only few people were free at that time. He was walking to the edge of the lake, enjoying the different scent of the lake compared to the stones and magic of the castle. As he was walking, finding a good place to just sit back and relax, he nearly tripped over a person.
He almost didn't notice a girl laying about on the grassy shore of the lake and now he was blocking her sun. She sat up and raised her brow at him while he felt fidgety. "Uh, sorry," he said as he rubbed the back of his neck, not really sure what he was apologizing for.

Dominique saw the guy fidget for a few seconds and kept glaring at him for a few more seconds before letting a smile break across her face. "Sorry, I just love giving that look to people. Their reactions are quite hilarious," she grinned, sitting up and bringing up her sopping feet into the grass to let them dry. She put her angry mood into another place at the back of her mind because by enlarge, she kept her anger and feelings to herself. Unless it was one of her best friends or siblings.
"Come on," she said, patting the grass next to her by way of invitation. "What brings a handsome young man like you out in the freezing cold weather, eh?" she asked, grinning cheekily at him. She realized she was putting on a flirty look on her face and didn't even bother hiding it. It's who she was and what she did. This one girl in her house had even told her once that she was the-girl-who-flirted-with-anything-with-two-legs. She shook her head at her absurd thoughts and held out her hand.
"Dominique. And you are?" she asked, raising her brow again, but with a cheeky smile on her face. "Wait. You're Ravenclaw," she said, eying his robes, "but you're not in my year and you don't look younger than me so probably sixth or seventh year. Yet I don't know you, which means you're the quiet types and since my friend Darla is in your house and knows pretty much everybody you must be...either Dylan or Adriel. But I know Dylan is a prefect, so...you are Adriel, right?" she asked, before realizing that she'd pretty much dissected the guy's introduction into bits. She pressed her lips, flushing, hoping she hadn't overwhelmed him with her peculiar attitude.

Cam blinked at her sudden change. At one moment she was angry at him then the next she was grinning. Apparently she wasn't angry at all. He knew that the female species were different (odd, weird, other things he'd rather not think about) than males, but she definitely takes the cake. She was just glaring at him to see his reaction. "Uh, no need to apologize. I'm sure my reaction was nothing special." Like the rest of me, he mentally added with a smile.
"Thanks," he said when she offered to let him sit beside her. It felt great to have a change of pace. He was a bit tired of his usual lonely monotonous routine. Even if his company was quite unusual, but Hogwarts is unusual as a whole so it should be all right. "Er..it isn't that cold yet," Cam replied, completely ignoring the handsome comment, though he did blush at her question. Not many noticed him, much less compliment him on his looks. He was far to boring and normal for the rest of the world to notice him, which was all right by him. It meant that it was less likely (more along the lines of impossible) that he would get caught because of his pranks.
As he took her hand and opened his mouth to introduce himself, she cut him off. He let her ramble and deduce who he was while he watched her with an amused expression. Apparently, she wouldn't have known him if it weren't for Darla, which was no surprise. She knew almost everyone in Hogwarts. So did Cam, but no one knew him back. He just observed everyone and took note of them at a distance instead of talking to them face to face, like now. "Yeah. I am. But I go by the name Cam. Nice to meet you, Dominique," he answered with a grin. He didn't use his first name much (rather at all) out of habit. He just preferred his middle name.
"So," he started, not knowing how to continue a conversation. "What's brings a pretty young lady like you out to swim in the freezing cold weather?" he asked her question back.

"Actually it was. Not many people fall for it, you see," she smiled, giving him the smallest of frowns. But she wasn't frowning at him, merely at his nervousness. She wondered what was making him feel awkward and for a few seconds thought she must've overwhelmed him. So she just kept quite and smiled as he sat down beside her. At least he'd taken that invitation.
So he was shy, she noticed as his pale skin flushed at her flirting. She was tempted to flirt a bit more until he was fumbling for words but didn't. maybe another time, she made a mental not and shrugged. "Are you kidding me? I swear my feet could've been frostbitten. Thank Merlin I remembered to put the heating spell this time before putting my feet in. You don't want to know what happened last time," she said, shivering at the memory of her frozen feet and chattering teeth. "It was bad."
"Well, Cam, if you're going to have me call you that, you can just call me Dom. Do you really want to say Dominique every time. I mean, I love my name, but really, it's a mouthful. Or I'm just lazy. And talkative too, because I'm the only one blabbering," she winked at him, shaking his hand, which was cold. So either he was lying or immune to the chill in the air. She raised a brow as he returned the question and smirked when he called her pretty. So he did know how to flirt.
"Huh. You know how boring the castle can be and my friends are too busy worrying about the OWLS and I had a horribly horrendous day, which you made me forget about," she grinned, lying back down as she'd been lying before.

"Er..I'm happy that you found my reaction entertaining?" Cam said unsurely. He wasn't used to interacting with such lively people, more like odd but he won't say that to her face. She was both actually, now that he thought about it, she was both odd and lively and even a little bit of a flirt, but the last could be ignored (for the most part) while the first two would take some getting used to. But that's nothing that he can't do.
Cam managed to hold back his laughter at her answer to his question but a snort and grin escaped from his lips. She was amusing and quite talkative. And he had a feeling that she would most probably tell him what happened the last time in due time. She seemed to let her mouth run ahead, unlike him. He had to think of everything he was going to say and/or do. It was mostly habit and a Ravenclaw thing and it was quite fun watching someone do the opposite of what he does. "I'd assume it would be," he said seriously, though the expression on his face was anything but serious, more like amused. "But I am serious. It's not that cold. With a strong warming charm on, of course," he explained, though he hasn't cast one on himself yet. He didn't mind the chill since it reminded him that Christmas was coming. And he loved the Christmas season with all its cheer.
"Probably just the latter," he said in response to her babbling. "Uh, Dom," he added as an afterthought. He'd really rather that she call him Cam since he can't see himself responding to his real first name. In Hogwarts, he was either Cam or (Mr.) Urquhart, usually the latter.
"I'm glad I made you forget your horrendous day, then. But shouldn't you be worrying about your OWL's like your friends?" he asked like a good Ravenclaw should. Academics should be prioritized in school after all.
