callahan’s first year passed in a blur, rather uneventfully. he naturally excelled at all of his classes, due to a lot of work outside of class for them. after all, how else was he going to achieve straight o’s on his owl’s and newt’s when it came time for them? it was easy to say that callahan was truly enjoying his life; that is, until the summer after his first year. callahan’s mother had gone out shopping for the day, and his dad had to run into work. callahan was going to be at home for a few hours, his dad told him. he was old enough, he’d be fine by himself. and callahan was. things only got bad when his dad got home. and he brought with him another woman. apparently he wasn’t satisfied with his current life with calliope and his son. and of course, callahan witnessed the whole thing. he was devastated. miles knew that his son knew, and told him that he must swear never to speak of it again. naturally, when his own father told him something like that, callahan listened. he wasn’t about to break that rule and risk any form of severe punishment that his dad could come up with. it was a scarring experience, however, made all the worse by the fact that callahan knew his mother knew nothing about this. she was living oblivious to the whole thing, and it hurt callahan not to tell her.
knowing of his father’s affair became callahan’s best-kept secret. he didn’t tell a word. no one even really seemed to notice how differently he looked at his father, how strangely he acted around him now. callahan had always admired his dad. he loved animals, and what better way to be successful working with them than in the ministry? after what he saw, however, callahan wasn’t so sure that he wanted to follow in dad’s footsteps. yeah, he still loved animals and working with them, but maybe that wasn’t the route he wanted to go. he would become successful in another way to avoid the risk of turning out like him.
callahan continued to excel at everything he did over the years. however, by his fifth year, reality was starting to sink in. keeping up such great grades wasn’t as easy as it used to be. it took a hell of a lot more effort, more than it already had taken out of him in earlier years. at fifteen, everyone is susceptible to peer pressure. when one of his classmates offered him a drink and a ride to a party, naturally callahan accepted. and that night became the best night of his life. after that, callahan started partying and drinking quite regularly. it was a great escape for him, a good way to get away from the pressures of what had become daily life for callahan. it was partying that got callahan into a more popular crowd, and it was the popular crowd that got him introduced to women. and he got hooked. he couldn’t stop. he couldn’t leave them alone, and they wouldn’t leave him alone. things are good. callahan’s in his seventh year, a prefect, and is having the time of his life. he’s having a great life again. sure, there were speed bumps along the way, and he knows even now that they aren’t at an end. but where’s the excitement in life otherwise?
from the outside, callahan looks like a happy person. he looks positive and upbeat. on the inside, however, that is definitely not the case. callahan can actually be a very cold person, and rude at times. if he doesn’t like you, well, let’s just say that you’re going to know it. within ten seconds of your encounter with him, you’re going to know if he likes you or not. and if he doesn’t, let’s just say you’re in for it. callahan is known for holding grudges, and there’s no way for you to ever get on his good side if you start out on his bad. or well, that’s never happened yet, at least. there’s always a first for everything, they say, but when you’re dealing with someone as stubborn as callahan, that’s highly unlikely. he is tenacious. once callahan sets his mind to something, nothing is ever going to get in his way. his determination could arguably be named his best quality.
also from the outside, one could tell that with the air callahan holds himself, he is a very confident person. he doesn’t believe himself faultless, but he’s very self-confident and often does, well, think about himself more than others. to be completely honest, he will always think of himself first, and what’s in it for him, no matter what the situation is. callahan is also very tactical in his planning, how he will always think things through and figure out how he can get events to fan out in a way that pleases him and puts him in the best light, or gets him the best prize. eyes on the prize? yeah, that would be callahan. he’s almost ruthless in a way, how he would probably sacrifice everything to get what he wants the most. that’s just his determination shining through, his persistence. he never gives up. if you’re friends with callahan, you’re going to have a friend for life. he’s fiercely loyal and will possibly most likely never betray you… depending what would be in it for him, of course.
callahan isn’t all bad, however. though he’s a very opinionated and often cold person, that doesn’t mean he still doesn’t have plenty of friends. callahan can usually be a pretty decent guy. when he’s playing the role of third party, such as in a dispute he has to deal with as prefect, he’ll be fair. and really, no matter how self-centered he is, he isn’t the type of guy to be a total ass to someone when he first meets him or her. he’ll give that person, whoever it is, a chance. in a way, though, it’s almost like one has to leave a good first impression on callahan for him to even consider friendship or even a mutual friendly acquaintanceship with the individual. he’s extremely judgmental. as mentioned, you’re going to know within minutes of meeting callahan whether he likes you or not. and also mentioned, it’s hard to get back on his good side after that. however, callahan doesn’t look for the worst in people, either. generally he can be a really great guy, friendly and goofy. he’s been known to crack a joke on more than one
and when it comes to his girls? callahan will never give up. he’s not just a bit of a womanizer, he’s a hardcore manwhore. as far as he’s concerned, he doesn’t ever want to settle down. why do that when he can have any girl he wants? it would be ridiculous to deny that callahan’s attractive. he’s a total ass about it, too. he knows that there’s plenty of women that have crushes on him. he takes it all in stride. callahan has always done well with handling responsibility, an attribute that has aided in his gaining of the prefect position. he understands what his responsibilities are and always carries them out effectively. in short, callahan’s dependable. when he says he’s going to do something, he’ll do it, and he’ll always do it well. “to the best of his abilities” seems to take on a new meaning with callahan.</div>[/ul]

Mirabelle Kendrick was one of those people in this world that drove others nuts when she was in a bad mood. Part of it was the subject of her bad moods; she got worked up over the tiniest things and acted like (and legitly thought that) they were the end of the world. Take tonight, for example. She had started crying over the fact that she’d had a bad day and her friend had left the bonfire and she was now lonely. Getting sand in her purse would probably throw her over the edge right about now. Though she was an extremely determined individual, she could also be extremely pessimistic, and often was. If one tiny thing went wrong, oh hell, the sky must be falling next. Just like how it was going to take her an extremely long time to forgive the friend that had ditched her tonight — if she ever forgave her completely. Mira could hold a grudge with the best of them. Her friend might be fucked for life.
Not that everyone ever wanted to be friends with Mira. She was actually a very annoying and obnoxious person. She was loud, she was headstrong, and things had to go her way. She shrieked like a girl and clacked her high heels in the hallway whenever she had the chance. She made boys’ heads turn, knew it, and used it to her advantage. She wanted the world and everything in it to revolve around her. Growing up with a tight hand on Daddy’s wallet hadn’t helped much. In her first life, Mira had grown up much more humbly, only getting out of foster care by marriage. This time around, however, she’d had it made. Rich parents and an only child led to one extremely spoiled little girl. She knew that she could get whatever she wanted if she just asked at the right moment. It was a foolproof method. She wasn’t just spoiled, she was spoiled rotten.
Tonight was probably one of the first times in Mira’s life that she wasn’t taking out her bad moods on others. Today had seemed that horrible to her that she felt more like keeping to herself than anything. That went to show just how well Mirabelle had it, when a day like the one she’d just had could pretty much be classified as one of the worst in her life. She hadn’t forgotten what it had been like to be Marilyn in her past life, but this time around, she had it made, and she’d gotten used to it. It felt like she had always been like this, had always been Mira, had always had a hold on Daddy’s checkbook and a tighter grip on his credit card. And tonight was just bad. She was about to finally give in and leave when suddenly, randomly, a little girl — she had to be what, only three? — walked up to her, smiling and holding out at s’more. Mira frowned just a bit, looking at the girl. She was cute. What was she doing out here at the bonfire.. handing her a s’more? “F- .. for me?” Mira slowly reached out and took the s’more, the tiniest of smiles breaking her invariable façade of sadness of the day. “Thank you...” She nibbled the edge of the graham cracker. She’d forgotten how good these things were... “Are your parents here?” she asked the girl. “You’re not here alone, are you?” She carefully took another bite of the s’more, making sure she didn’t get any of the marshmallow on her fingers. That would probably just get her pissed all over again.
