Halloween again, not an activity Tyson usually partook in. He had skipped the event in his fifth year on the grounds of feeling somewhere between ‘cannot be arsed’ and ‘too tired’ and last year he had been with Rebbecca for most of the night which had turned into a whirlwind of flashes and waking up to an empty bed. That had helped him create a new distaste for the party, but it was also mainly due to his disinterest in fancy dress, don’t get confused, he loved a good party but he had never got conceiving merry enough to warrant putting serious effort into an outfit and despite having a date this year, his attitude hadn’t changed much.
He donned his waistcoat and did up the buttons one by one, Gryffindor red, naturally. But the deep red helped with the associated he was going for which was to be dressed as a vampire, or at least a casual one. He roommates had already left, most already in the company of a giggling girl being dragged out of the common room. Tyson’s affair was naturally more laid back and from the looks of things, more civilised. He wasn’t one to judge but from what he had gathered; the majority of the girls that had partnered up had personalities as deep as a tea spoon. He pondered what they could possibly get up to after the party... Sarcasm aside, he was at least happy his friends would have a good time, even if it wasn’t the good time he was after. After rolling up his sleeves to shoulder length he turned to the mirror and sought to make his hair even more messy than usual, which was a challenge, yet he managed to pull off an effect that looked just out of the norm enough to pass as part of the costumes effect. After a final check in the mirror, he turned sharply on his heels and headed for the Hufflepuff Common room.
He checked his time, he had ten minutes to get there so he kept his pace casual, passing many variations of ghosts, ghouls and a whole other variety of creatures he couldn’t even begin to name. These mostly lay with the lower years as he passed people in his year and the year below, the costumes were much more tame, similar to his but most had still stuck with the theme better than him. Picking out a costume had been a nightmare for him, he had inevitably fallen onto his backup as he had little time to get away from quidditch training, but although the costume helped to enhance the evening, it wasn’t the reason he was going.
He pondered what costume Brielle would don for the evening. But automatically his mind jumped back to what he had already seen wandering the corridors, the easiest way to make a girls Halloween costume. Just slap on some fabric covering the essentials, stick on some devil horns or cat ears to go “Meow” and you’re sorted. He didn’t mind girls dressing up like this, why would he? Come on! But he pondered if Brielle would choose such an outfit. He hadn’t really gotten much of a feel for her dress sense beyond her robes and casual attire, and even then the casual stuff didn’t come out too often in his experience. He reached the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room with a few minutes to spare. He perched himself on a statue nearby and waited for Brielle to emerge.

Bri was fixing her dark hair in the mirror so it was completely straight. She applied mascara and eyeliner, which was usually the most she ever did regarding make-up. She never added blush since she usually blushed so easily. She pulled on the sleeves and smiled at her perfectly white angel dress which went a little above her knees considering how she was quite short. She had on her headband where a halo was attached above and made sure she had small little angel wings. Not the huge obnoxious ones that would knock out everyone in sight. She still remembered that nightmare from her fairie costume 2 years ago. Needless to say she learned her lesson about wearing a costume with huge wings as an accessory for large and crowded events such as this one.
She took a few steps back from the mirror to examine herself one more time. She usually didn't care this much on how she looked. But this year was different. She actually had a date. She had never had a date to one of these dances before in her life and she was quite excited. She had told her friends right away in excitement and they helped her choose a costume. She was quite obviously an angel. It also kind of fit her personality at times. Her dark hair definately gave it a prettier feel rather than a fair blonde. She knew she would never be as pretty as some of her friends but she had to admit she felt beautiful.
She was pumped for this all week. Whenever she saw Tai in the halls she wouldn't be able to hold back an obvious smile that everyone noticed. She wondered if her sister found out yet, the news was clearly around the school. Would her sister approve? Probably not, and her parents. Now that was a whole different story. But it was just one date. It wasn't like they were getting married or anything. So as of that moment everyone else's opinions shouldn't matter to her. Correction: They didn't matter to her one bit.
She walked out of the common room and looked around with a smile. A smile that turned into a bigger one when she saw Tyson. He had a red waistcoat, black pants, and a white shirt. She wasn't exactly positive about what he was and decided perhaps she shouldn't guess until she was positive. or at least had some clue. "Hey." she said softly with a smile as she walked closer to him so he could see her better.

Tyson had felt so childish the past few weeks, mainly because whenever the pair had passed each other in the corridor or bumped into each other in the library, they had blushed so much that you might imagine people around them had started heating up. He had often thought he had left these flirtatious antics behind in the lower years after his somewhat emotionally disconnected relation ship with Rebbecca last year. But alas, it seemed it was still going strong, even in seventh year. Or was it dependant on the person you were going uot with rather than yourself? or was that an infinite loophole of logic he didn't want to delve too much deeper into tonight.
His thoughts danced back to Rebbecca, his somewhat ex, despise the fact it was only a fling of sorts. He didn't know if she was currently dating anyone or not. If she was, he would imagine the poor sou8ld would be dragged out in front of him to be used as a toy to make Tyson jealous. Or the alternative was that she was single, in which case Tyson imagined she would dress in the most revealing outfit possible and attempt to drag him away from the first date he had had on waht eflt like years. Regardless, Tyson knew he was in for a night to remember, no matter who he ended up with. It was his last Halloween bash, best to make the most of it!
He hadn't heard the Hufflepuff common room open, so he had to contain his surprise when he had heard the soft voice greet him to such an unexpected degree that he nearly jumped off the statue on which he was perched. He composed himself better before taking a good look at Brielle, smoothing out his waistcoat as she emerged from the shadow of the archway. Despite having the best view of her, Tyson was stunned for words. She was truly beautiful, angelic would be the word if borrowed heavily from her outfit. "I don't think we've met..." Tyson began with a coy smile, taking her hand in greeting, adding: "I was waiting for an attractive young lady, but you're far prettier, may I accompany you to the dance?" He exclaimed with a grin, hoping she knew it was full well an act of bravado and romantic appeal. He straightened up, indicating to his own outfit. "Sorry I haven't put as much effort in as you have - work got the better of me. I'm supposed to be a Vampire - rawr!" He said with a laugh, moving his hands in a semi-threatening way to add to the diminished effect of his outfit. All in all, the outfits only made up part of the evening, he had hoped however he hadn't upset Brielle too much turning up dressed this underwhelmingly
notes: dw, no rush! - posted this whilst half tipsy-ish, so sorry if it isn't up to scratch!
