Cathy hummed softly to herself, as she walked around the library, her stilettos clicking against he wooden panels of the floor. She was out of earshot of the librarian to be shushed because of then noise, and frankly, she didn't care. She was looking for a Potions book because she had homework and as much as she hated it, she had to give it in tomorrow. She found the spine of the book she was looking for and pulled it out, flipping through the pages as she hauled herself onto a table top.
Her legs were swinging to the song she was humming and she was smiling to herself. She was having an amazing day and she was reliving every minute of it. She'd been sitting two seats down from Stefan and Nick during breakfast and from what he curious little ears had gathered, Dominique's life was hell as ever and Nick and Darla were on the rocks. The words were music to her ears and she was just sad about how Nick would feel when he understood Danni to be a part of the scheme. Surely he'd understand!
She heard footsteps and looked up, scowl ready on face which broke into a smile which had ruined many hearts. "Stefan, love! Look who's been scarce as ever!"she scolded, shutting the book and keeping it aside carelessly as she ushered him to join her. He was one of her few favorite people around after all and she'd known him as long as Nick and Marcus and Danni.

Stefan was one that wouldn't frequent the library. He spent his time lazing around and the likes. Today he did find himself in the library though. He had needed to pick up a Magical Creatures book to read up on and it was as he was walking down the aisles that he heard very faintly, since he hadn't been paying much attention, ”Stefan, love! Look who's been scarce as ever!” Stefan had looked like deer caught in headlights when he looked up.
It was his good friend Caterina, well Cathy as she liked to be called. He smiled and walked over. ”I've been avoiding,” he told her. Ever since hearing that Dominique cheating on him was a rumor he'd turned into somewhat of a recluse, maybe a bookworm would be more accurate. He'd actually read his entire Potions book for the year over the last day or two.
Seeing Cathy though made it a little difficult because she was one of the ones Dominique accused of starting the rumor along with his practical sister Danni. He placed down the magical creatures book and looked at her. ”What brings you to the library? he asked her. From what he knew Cathy wasn't a frequenter of the library either but maybe she was there the same reason he was.

She frowned at his utter lack of usual excitement and happiness. Stefan wasn't one to be so glum, especially around a friend and she frowned wondering what could be on his mind. Realizing what it was after a second or two, she mentally swore, while keeping the smile on her face. Even though they'd been broken up for a year, that bitch still somehow controlled his mood. Cathy wondered if it was what she'd overheard was bothering him, the rumors and the potential involvement of her and Danni. She decided to play dumb instead,
"Why though? Somebody annoying you?" she asked, gesturing to the seat in front of her, staying in her position on the table top where she was comfortable enough. She wondered if he would even talk to her about it but decided there was no real harm in trying and kept a curious expression on her face. She wanted to know his thoughts on every bit of this because she had to know which direction to push him towards and what to make him steer clear of.
"I was supposed to hand in Potions homework tomorrow, but now that I think of it, I'll never get it done. I hate homework. I don't want to do it" she pouted a bit, crossing her arms. She'd had wonderful plans for the evening and they'd all been ruined by her day planner which had so charmingly reminded her of the little assignment she'd left until the last minute. "I was supposed to be shopping for my Halloween costume and now that's all the drain" she said, huffing. She blinked for a second before straightening up. "Who's your date?" she asked, wondering if he was free to go with her. She had no intentions of going dateless and he was a perfect choice.

Stefan saw her frown at his lack of personality at the moment. He just hadn't been in the mood to really focus on being excited. He was more in the mood to just sit quietly and think. On top of that Dominique accused Cathy as one of the people who started the rumor so he wasn't sure if he really wanted to talk to her all that much. When he heard Cathy speak, ”Why though? Somebody annoying you?” he just shrugged. ”More like something, but I'm not looking to talk about it anymore today,” he told her. He had to think about it and that was enough as it was so he wasn't going to continue on trying to talk about something he barely knew about.
He pulled out the seat in front of Cathy and sat down. He was looking up at her and he wasn't quite used to that. He was after all about six inches taller than. He was thinking about everything that had happened earlier in the morning. For now he had no idea what to do. Sure he could just ask Cathy about it all and she could either agree or deny it but he knew she would be a lot harder to break than Danni would be, Nick could easily break her. Those two were close and Stefan was positive when Nick got the chance he would ask Danni or put her in a situation where she would have to confess. He eventual decided to not bring up the topic.
As he sat there he heard her speak once more about why she had been up there, it was Potions homework. ”I actually finished mine, if you want to take a look at it you can,” he said. Stefan wasn't known for his great grades, he only took four N.E.W.T. Level classes, not that he really needed more than that. She also went on to tell him that she was supposed to be shopping for a Halloween costume. He listened to the pause after a huff and than was asked who his date was. ”As I told Nick earlier, last year I thought it was going to be Dominique but now, I dunno if I'm even gonna bother to go, I think I'd rather sit up in the dorms, besides I wouldn't even have a costume to utilize if I were going to go to the ball,” he told her. He wondered if he would have gotten excited if he did have a date, not that there were any girls out there he really wanted to go with. Cathy wasn't bad, if she had been asking him to the ball but he was sure she would already have a date.
