Dylan was relaxed in the common room. He wasn't one to normally just sit down and relax. A book sat in his lap not that he was paying attention to it. He was thinking more along the lines of what he could do. He could have cared less about what was in his book or was ready for school. The common room was a little full and he sighed. He was energetic but no one he really talked to was in the common room therefore he was kind of just sitting there zoned out.
His eyes had a slight blank stare to them as he thought. As he thought about it he should have been working on homework, not sitting there thoughtlessly. He decided after several thoughtless minutes to at least look like he was doing something and he held his book like he was doing something. If anyone knew him well enough they would be able to tell that he wasn't studying that he had just been staring blankly into the pages of a book, after all he hadn't turned a single page since putting the book into his face and he had typically been a fast reader. When he read it was fast and he was turning the pages about every minute.

Cam entered the common room unnoticed, as always. He was quiet most of the time and this time was no exception. There was no reason to bother other people with his entrance after all.
He just finished attending the last of his classes, much to his relief. Just because he was a Ravenclaw doesn't mean that he enjoys spending hours at a time listening to the teacher drone about the topic for the day. In his honest opinion, lessons taught that way aren't very informative since there's no exchange of information, the only opinion/view are those of the teacher and the textbook (which is usually one and the same). It would be better if the teacher didn't just repeat what was in the textbook, or better yet, let the students interpret what's written in the book. But maybe the teacher expected that the students won't read the book so he can get away with his teaching style. Cam rolled his eyes at his thoughts. The professor didn't take note of the studios ones (a.k.a. Ravenclaws and nerds, which were usually one and the same).
Feeling no urge to return to the dorms, he went to one of the couches to just do some casual reading. He frowned, noticing that all the couches and lounge chairs were taken. Where would he read now? Luckily, he found a space beside his roommate, who wasn't reading despite his facade. "Hey, Dylan," he said quietly as he sat down beside him. "What are you reading?" Cam asked with humor in his voice since they both know Dylan wasn't reading at all. 274 words dylan tags nah. it's alright. XD notes [/size]

Dylan was still a complete drone when his dorm mate Cam came up and sat beside him. He hadn't really even heard it when Cam had spoke to him, literally it had gone through one ear and out the other. He looked up though when he was asked what he was reading. Dylan laughed and looked at his book. He read the title and actually had no idea he had been even looking at his Transfiguration book. ”According to the title of this book I am read Advanced Transfiguration,” he told him with a grin.
Cam was quiet, much more so than Dylan but Dylan didn't care. They were dorm mates and had known each other since their first year so it had been pretty easy to spend time with them. Dylan actually sometimes preferred the quiet vibe that Cam gave off, it made it easier to think. ”You just get back from classes?” he asked Cam. He hadn't been paying any attention to which direction Cam came from but from what he recalled Cam hadn't been in the common room or dorms when Dylan himself had come back from classes. Dylan had blanked out so much that he couldn't even recall how long ago he came back from classes. It couldn't have been too long since Dylan didn't get much done, but that truly didn't mean anything Dylan could zone out for hours on end. He closed the book. ”I'm not even reading the thing, why should I even bother?” he asked as he sat it to the side.

Cam laughed along with Dylan when he realized that he had no idea of what book he was staring into. It wasn't the first time it happened and no doubt it wasn't the last, but it was hilarious every time, at least to Cam. A Ravenclaw not interested in reading the book in his hands? Some of his housemates would be scandalized at the thought. "Ah, I see," Cam said sagely.
"Yeah," he replied before looking around in case someone was listening in. He didn't want to be known in his last year as the rebel Ravenclaw or something even though it was true. "It was terribly boring," he lowered his voice to a whisper, knowing that Dylan would hear him well enough. He glanced again in case someone noticed what he said. If a Ravenclaw uninterested in reading a book in his hands was scandalous, admitting classes were dull was positively sacriligious to some. Just because most of them were braniacs and such doesn't mean that he has to enjoy the lackluster teaching method he had to endure just moments earlier.
"The pictures were so grotesque that you couldn't help but stare at them," he replied. Advanced Transfiguration had the most disturbing pictures since it contained human transfiguration and the possible errors. Enough said. "Do those pictures help you think?" he asked amusedly, not bothering to ask what he was thinking of. He would never do that outright though he could pry it with questions if he wanted. He was pretty good at that. 264 words dylan tags haha. i've got no comment at the moment. XP notes

Dylan smiled and continued to laugh. He wasn't one to always use his time to study, typically he used the time before his prefect shifts to do that, he also liked to have someone to study with, it made the time fly by which typically meant that Dylan liked to procrastinate. Sure he was smart and he earned great grades but he didn't do his work right away and usually put it off until the last minute but always finished nonetheless. He was known for his procrastination and he wasn't going to change any time soon, it'd worked for seven years.
He looked at Cam as he had confirmed his question about coming back from his last class. He also spoke about it being terribly boring, he made sure to say it quietly and looked around. Dylan looked at him with wide eyes and said, ”A class boring? No, way?” he had said it completely serious before cracking up laughing. Professors didn't seem to always teach in interesting ways and for most Ravenclaws who have read the book before it made it just seem like they were hearing it again and Dylan always had finished the book before starting school so he just heard repeats all year long, that was one of the reasons he procrastinated so much was that he didn't need to study it half the time.
”The pictures were so grotesque that you couldn't help but stare at them,” he heard Cam say about the transfiguration book. Dylan definitely nodded at that, ”just imagine trying to become a healer for spell damage, I'll be seeing this stuff quite often I'm assuming, pretty nasty,” he said. He opened back up his transfiguration book and flipped to a page and looked at the picture, ”imagine seeing this?” he said of a woman who was trying to become an animagi and it had gone so wrong that she was permanently part bat, ”this is the reason why I haven't even tried human transfiguration,” he told his friend and nodded about the pictures helping slightly. ”Do they help you at all?” he asked.

"I know right," Cam answered solemnly to Dylan's serious question before cracking up alongside him. He knew Dylan would understand where he was coming from since they both read the books before going to class. Well, that's a given since they're both Ravenclaws and they're supposed to uphold little traditions like that, but he has photographic memory, though not many know about it. It annoys him when they just discuss the book in class since sometimes, rather oftentimes, they misread or misquote passages from the book. As an atypical Ravenclaw, he's done pretty sacriligious things by most of his housemates' standards, but misreading and/or misquoting a book is practically blasphemy to him. It really gets on his nerves and half the time, he wants to jinx anyone who made such stupid mistakes. But he doesn't since it would attract attention and he hated that more than he hated those who make mistakes."Thank goodness it's our last year here and we won't have to go through them after graduation," he said with a small grin. He was excited with the prospect of living in the real world instead of just staying in school. But Hogwarts has a special place in his heart and he didn't want to leave yet, except for the moments when he's in class, dying of boredom. Other than those special moments, he didn't want to leave his, and the rest of the students', safe haven. The real world is a dangerous place, his parents would often remind him and he has no doubt that small nugget of wisdom was true. But that didn't change the fact that he wanted to prove himself in the real world.
"I wish I can't imagine, but sadly I can," Cam answered sadly. That's why he could never work in St. Mungo's despite his grades and skill in casting magic. He just can't stomach such images, and he would probably see worse if he was a healer, especially one working for spell damage. The grotesque images would be imprinted in his mind forever. He mentally shivered at the thought. But that wasn't his life goal, it was Dylan's and he respected him for his noble career path. "Same reason," Cam nodded.
"Do they help me what?" Cam asked, wondering how and why would such pictures help him, other than be inspirations for his newest spells (or pranks) but he wasn't going to say that out loud. 416 words dylan tags lol. i got carried away. XDD notes

Dylan listened to Cam's solemn reply and just like Dylan had started cracking up. If there was one thing he couldn't stand was a boring lesson and he would be the first to say so. He may have been a Ravenclaw but there were just things that he was not going to tolerate. He looked at Cam as he spoke of it being a good thing about their last year and Dylan agreed completely. ”I'll miss the comfort of the castle though,” he told him a little somberly but it was the truth, ”the castle is a great place to be, I would love to stay here but I don't think that'd be possible unless I become one of those boring professors,” he laughed. Dylan was ready to leave but at the same time he was clinging on with both hands so to make sure he was ready to leave he was trying to make the best of his last year.
”Oh yeah you don't like seeing that stuff, do you?” Dylan asked with a chuckle. Dylan was pretty cool with the idea of grotesque images. He was never one to shy away from something nasty, especially when it came to spell damage. He actually had a rather gruesome way of thinking sometimes, not something he let out often. He could think of a few occasions where he was gazing in at some of the pictures in the advanced transfiguration book and wondering if it was possible to recreate it exactly to a point. Dylan knew better than to actually try it but the thoughts sometimes ran through his head. ”What is it you're planning on doing when you leave?” he asked. Most Hogwarts students had a idea by their fifth year so they could be ready to choose their N.E.W.T. Level classes, Dylan himself had his idea since he was ten.
”I dunno, do they help? Do they make you want to try some of that transfiguration?” he grinned from ear to ear. He was sure that most people couldn't stand the site of those pictures.

"I will too," Cam said honestly with a wistful look on his face. Just looking around at the cozy common room made him feel nostalgic even if he hasn't left yet. It would be a shame to leave everything behind but he has to. Cam laughed when Dylan suggested to stay as a professor. "Why not? You're probably make a great professor," Cam said with a smile. It was true, at least in Cam's point of view. Dylan wouldn't make his students relive the contents of the book and he has this comforting aura, which most professor needed in his opinion. "Besides, not all professors are boring, he said, remembering the other professors who made an effort to make class interesting. "Just most of them," he said with a grimace, remembering his class from earlier.
"Yeah. I don't," he said with a shake of his head. If he can, Cam would've burned all the images in his books but it's easier to learn with visuals so he let them stay. For now. "A spell creator. Hopefully for the Department of Mysteries," Cam answered honestly, duckin his head a bit. He wasn't used to saying his dream out loud since people rarely ask in the first place. It's a bit ambitious but he couldn't imagine being anything else to be ever since he heard about it when he was around ten. He'd love to make spells that would make life more convinient for everyone. And it tested his wit and skill, which he loved. He's always loved mental challenges.
"Of course not," he said with a shiver. "In fact, they make me want to not try transfiguration at all," he continued with a disgusted look on his face. "Though human transfiguration still seems pretty amazing, if you accomplish it properly," he said, giving the images another passing glance with a more pleasant look on his face. 333 words dylan tags sorry took so long. Dylan looked around the Ravenclaw common room. ”Especially this room, many a good times here,” he said with a smile. He'd made some of his best friends in the common room. Dylan looked over at Cam as he asked why he wouldn't be a professor. ”Because being a healer is definitely my job, I don't think I could be a professor, I don't have the patience to be one,” he laughed. It was true, Dylan didn't mind kids around but for the most part having to control multiple children at once, well Dylan to say the least would probably become off his rocker. ”Boring, exciting, either way children frighten me,” he laughed, ”or at least teaching children frightens me.”
Dylan nodded about the images. ”Stomaching them can be hard sometimes,” he said. He was thinking back to the human transfiguration in the books. The images truly were stomach-wrenching, Dylan just had the stomach to have it wrenched from. He listened to Cam talking about being a spell creator for the Department of Mysteries. ”Nice, nice peaceful job too, or at least peaceful in certain terms,” he said. He himself could not work for the Ministry, he'd decided that long ago. It was the equivalent in Dylan's opinion to a boring office job. Dylan couldn't work boring jobs. At least being a healer you would get to see something new everyday. That would be fun.
”Of course not,” he heard Cam say, ”in fact they make me not want to try transfiguration at all.” He saw his friend's disgusted look on his face and chuckled. ”Imagine though if you could successfully do it, I mean it would be amazing,” he agreed with his friend. Human transfiguration was one of the most difficult things in magic, in Dylan's opinion. It wasn't something to attempt if you were a little frightened. Dylan was just excited to work on those who couldn't perform it properly. It would be interesting.
