Dominique sat at the base of the huge oak tree, her breath shaking and coming out in gasps as she cried to herself. She didn't feel like going back to the castle at all because going back would mean facing Roxie or Darla and then she'd have to explain just what had happened with her and Stefan this morning. And explaining to Darla meant, having her ask Nick questions and she knew their relationship was already a bit strained and didn't want to ruin it for them.
So she was here, in the Forbidden Forest, hiding from all the people who could see her vulnerable and hurt her. She wanted to drown her sorrows somewhere, be the girl she was last night but she felt just as broken as she had a year ago, when she was still naive little Dominique. She couldn't believe that Stefan hadn't trusted her. For goodness sake, he was supposed to love her!
She didn't understand as to who on earth could have spread a rumor like that. Why would she cheat on Stefan? Who could have such huge problems with their relationship that they would want to break them up? She knew that many of his housemates had deemed her too gullible and childish to be among them but she'd thought that they would at least be happy for him. But no. She was sure it was one of them.
She heard a crunch of twigs and her head snapped up. Quickly wiping her tears and taking out her wand, she stood up, keeping it ready in case it was a magical creature or foe. Her crying was momentarily forgotten as she squinted through the pale light streaming through and then froze, a sneer curling on her lips before she could stop it.
"You, what do you want?" she spat at the Slytherin walking her way.

The forest was quiet and still. No bird chirped nor any small creature scampered about on the dead leaves that littered the floor of the woods. It was odd really. In all the times he had been out here there was always some sort of noise going on, but not today. The only noise audible was the light crunching noise of dried leaves under his slip-on shoes. Still it didn't bother him.. He quite enjoyed the silence. It always helped to clear his mind, and boy did he have a lot on it today.
His mind traced back to all the damage he had caused recently, most notably between his best friend Stefan and the little Weasley girl whom he had fallen for. It was pathetic really. Stefan shouldn't disgrace himself to the likes of that, but yet he had and Marcus had taken it upon himself to devise a rather...unsettling plan to disrupt the two. A rumor. Oh how the power of words could crush or give life. Words were a weapon Marc was skilled in, but rumors though, they weren't his forte. To make things go smoothly he enlisted the help of Danni and Caterina, two girls that he had found useful over their recent talks. They helped forge the rumor, a nasty one about how she was sleeping around with some bloke behind Stefan's back, and Marc, well, he put it into action.
Three days. That's all it took for the rumor to fly around Hogwarts, starting in the Charms class room where he had whispered it into one of the twin's ears whom he knew wouldn't keep their mouth shut, and then back around to Stefan's own ears. The relationship was ended, and well let's just say Stefan has never been better. Oh how thrilled he was when Stefan came bursting into the common room, shouting all kinds of horrible words and phrases about the little twit. Still, a part of him deep down, buried beneath all the years of cold and hate did realize how wrong it was, but he put that out with a few sips of vodka and a cigarette or two.
Now here he was, hands in his coat pocket, one fixated on his wand, as he walked through the forest. He turned between two trees, snapped a branch under his foot and then watched with cold blue eyes as the enemy appeared, her blonde hair bouncing around mockingly as she stood, wand drawn and pointing at him. He tilted his head a bit, noting the redness around her eyes. Had she been crying? Pathetic. Still, he pulled his hands out of his pockets, not bothering to bring forth his wand, and raised them in the air. "I come in peace." He said, looking at her with a cunning smile that displayed good intentions, but really had more of a sinister back story. "I was just walking through. Kinda drifting about ya'know?" He added, still awaiting to see if she'd try to fight him. Had she figure it out yet? Figured out that he was the one to split them apart so eagerly? There was only one way to be sure. "Dom isn't it?" He spoke, now lowering his hands back down to his side. "Yeah, I remember seeing you and Stefan around. Pity y'all didn't last." He added, not giving her a chance to answer the last question.

Dominique relaxed her stance ever so lightly as she glared back at him, blinking a few times to let her tears dry up and not fall down her cheeks. She hadn't known Marcus well, only by name and face. But the amusement and relaxed manner with which all of Stefan's and Nick's friends had talked off him and the horrified way with which her friends did, she'd never deduced anything good about him.
She remember, through a haze of memories, how he'd never had anything good to say about her or Stefan's relationship and for a long time she'd assumed that only Nick had supported his best friend in his choice of girlfriend. She knew it had to be one of the Slytherins who would've started the horrifying rumor about her which he'd been gullible enough to believe. But she didn't let herself think about it now. Instead she focused on the cocky guy in front of her.
She lowered her wand and stowed it back in her pocket, knowing from whispers that Marcus used not brute force but words as his weapons and she didn't need a wand to counter those. She may not know who to believe and who not to but she wouldn't let anybody's taunts get her down. She raised her eyes to his and crossed her arms, leaning against the tree she'd been sitting against as she openly sneered at him, up to down. She was sure he must've heard the rumor and had a thing or two to say about it.
"Bit late aren't you, with the insults? It's been a year," she replied, raising a brow and clearing her throat. She didn't know why all of a sudden, after all this time this lid of drama had to open up in her life. She had moved on just fine, believing what she was forced to and becoming more confident of herself, not quite naive as she had been. Why now did she have to suddenly become vulnerable and hurt again?
" I'm sure your nasty little friends think otherwise. Cunning, cheating bitch, apparently, I was. Didn't stop half of them from sleeping with me after you all got what you wanted," she said, blatantly accusing him even though she had no solid proof against him or anybody for that matter. She was merely following instinct.

The blonde lowered her wand and leaned up against the oak that stood beside her, all the while shooting daggers into Marcus' soul. Too bad for her though, for she might not have heard that he didn't have a soul, or at least that's what everyone thought due to his actions. Still to show he was not phased, he merely adjusted the sleeves on his jacked and shot her another one of his grins.
The wand went back into her pocket, or so his blue eyes caught as Marc leaned against an opposite tree, folding his arms in front of his chest. She spoke up, questioning his tardiness on the subject that was her and Stefan, all the while clearing her throat. "No insult giving here, darlin'. Merely stating a fact, that's all." He said, returning her quizzical glance right back at her. When it came to this game, he knew all the right short cuts and phrases to get the other person squirming. Right now though, he had to play the waiting game, learning what her defense was, how she attacks, and all the other key points that came to politics and arguments.
"I'm sure your nasty little friends think otherwise. Cunning, cheating bitch, apparently, I was. Didn't stop half of them from sleeping with me after you all got what you wanted." Dom spat out at him, causing a small laugh to escape his throat. "Touchy now, are we?" He retorted. "What my fellow peers think is their business, not mine." He spoke up, reaching up and picking a leaf off the branch that hung low above him. "Still, my best interests were only with what Stefan wanted." He rolled the leaf around in his hand a bit. "Wasn't my fault you flushed all that down the toilet." With that he crumbled up the leaf and dropped it, looking at her with a stern gaze.

She watched him carefully, on her guard as he took a mirrored stance in front of her and talked. She didn't believe a word that left his mouth, his polite sentences, his silent accusations. She wasn't dumb, not anymore and she wasn't going to fall for the innocent act. The only problem was that the people who she needed most to believe her, Stefan and by extension Nick, would believe him on any given day. Heck they were all a band of childhood friends, with Danni and Cathy added to the mix, both of him disproved of her and Darla.
She felt disgusted with the way he scrutinized her, as if she wasn't a person, but just an animal to play with and then shoo away. She shook her head. "You'll have to try harder than that if you're trying to break through to me. If you think you can be patient then think again. I will never believe you," she spat at him, her feisty Veela temper showing. She felt her eyes burn both with tears and anger, and knew they were flashing. Not orange, like some of her family's did, but just a darker shade of blue.
She scoffed, annoyed at his laughter and the childish act he was putting up. She looked back, smirking. " Your interest were with what you wanted, not him. You could have left us alone" she replied, frowning at him. Surely he knew exactly what had happened, maybe even help further the rumors.

Oh was she clever. Marcus listened as she spilled to him about how she'd never believe him, not matter how patient he was or how much he tried to break through to her. He frowned a bit at that, still playing his part. "I never asked for you to believe me. You should know I'd care less about that, but when I do try to say something I'd at least appreciate it if you took some thought to it." He replied calmly, his eyes locking with hers for a brief moment. She was going to be a tricky one to break through and get her on his side, but it could be done. He had the faith that it could at least, and well will-power is always a strong ally.
Blue eyes watched as the blonde scoffed and smirked at him after he placed the blame on her. She spoke again, this time though with out the same spark of feistiness that had sent a cold shiver up his spine moments ago. "Your interest were with what you wanted, not him. You could have left us alone" She frowned and he took a step back, acting like those words had hurt. "Leave you alone?" He began, now starting to fuel an imaginative fire of anger. "All I ever did was leave you two alone, no matter what I thought of you and him. Stefan is a dear friend, and to think that you'd actually think I'd have something to do with the fact of you not seeing what you really had makes me pity you." He retorted, his hands clenched up tightly in a fist, knuckles turning white.
The forest fell silent once again, with Marc standing and looking down at the floor. He sighed a bit and ran a hand through his messy brown hair. "I'm sorry." He lied, "I dunno what's going on and why all of this had been brought back up now. Like you said it's been a year. It should be long forgotten and buried with the rest of Hogwart's burned out relationships" He chuckled a bit, trying to lighten the mood somewhat. "Still. If you really do think that I'd treat my best friend like that, then I'll leave you be." With that he turned around and took a few steps away from her, his mind working ever so quickly on how this plan of attack would work. If he had broken in, she'd tell him to stay, if not he'd just have to leave and try again another day. Secretly he prayed for the first.

She bristled as she watched him frown and put up an innocent face. She didn't believe it but for a second an insane thought flashed through her head. What if she was doing to him what Stefan had done to her, simply refusing to believe when there was some truth in her words. What if Marcus was innocent. She knew he was diabolical and cunning and he didn't seem like the kind who got affected by something petty like two people dating.
Wait!, she scolded herself, making her thought process stop. Was she mad? Of course he could do it! He could be just that low, the cunning bastard and she knew it, she'd seen enough and heard enough to know it. But the doubt was planted in her mind. "I don't need your pity. I just want somebody to tell me the truth for once and something tells me it won't be you I'll be getting it from," she replied, coolly raising a brow and sitting back down.
She heard his words and frowned at what he was saying. She could hear the words ringing and she realized that even if he was lying to her, maybe he was the closest she could get to the truth. And even if he didn't play a direct part, then the least he could do was know who did. "Wait!", she called out, looking back at him, "You really didn't have anything to do with this?" she asked, folding her arms and giving the smallest benefit of doubt.

The blonde went off once more, her words dripping with venom although she remained her composure. She should have been sorted into Slytherin, despite being a Weasley. She could have proved useful to his causes, but then again his mind had grown a bit funny over the past few weeks, and he let those thoughts roll off and dissipate. Still, his ears filled with her speech as she stated she didn't need his pity and that truth was something she'd never hear from him. Playing into the act he was giving off, he just remained silent, a frustrated look now coming over him that she might relate to his cause, but really it was because she was growing harder and harder to crack. Still there was that one move he had left.
Leaves crunched once again as he took step after step, leading his body away from the Weasley. In the back of his mind he was softly praying to some higher power that this worked, and that she'd call for him and he could weasel his way onto her side like he had done with countless others over the years. Just as he took another step, her voice called out and he flashed a grin to himself before straightening his face and turning around to see her. There she stood, her arms crossed as she asked if he really had nothing to do with her and Stefan. "Trust me, if I did, things would be a whole lot worse." He lied again, but there was some truth in it. Things were going to be worse. He was going to make sure he sealed the bag shut and those two would never be able to go back to each other. Still, he needed a plan besides getting on her side.

She could feel her scrutinizing gaze on her and despite her best efforts not to, she flushed. Back when she didn't know better, she'd seen boys look at her and now she loved it, but this was completely different. It wasn't the look she got when a boy wanted her or liked her. This was more...sinister.
She felt like he was looking through her, trying to undo something deep inside her. She felt violated and vulnerable and she cleared her throat. He was trying to break her and she knew it but it was like she was under some smooth spell. What harm could he do to her. She was already damaged goods, he was ruthless. But she was her own person, she didn't want to be a pawn in whatever game he was playing.
"Right," she replied to his quasi-threat and rolled her eyes. The silence between them was almost deafening as he stared at her. She didn't even understand why he was here but she was going to get to the roots of this new mess which had been sowed in her life.
"But you know about the rumor, and every rumor starts somewhere. Give me a lead," she demanded, but she knew if he were to give it to her, it would come with a price.

Words. Simple little things that could forge a new life, or bring one crashing down. Words were something Marcus knew about all too well. His father was a businessman who owned his own company, and with that it meant he needed to be able to haggle or even lie to get what he wanted. That was the only thing Marc loved about his father. He was a true visionary when it came to talking. When he was little he use to get dragged along on business meetings, each time being told that it was for his own good. Well it was. Through those meetings he learned the ins and outs of how to lie, cheat, and steal with one simple weapon. Words.
The Weasley just looked at him for a moment after he told her how much worse it would be if he was involved at all, which of course he was, but still he was only a third of the part, and frankly he didn't like that. He wanted to be the ring leader, the one that ruined it all, and to do that he needed to weasel his way onto her side, whisper all the wrongs into her ear until she thought they were right. Snapping back to reality, his ears filled with the sound of her voice, questioning him on who started the rumor that left her in pieces. "Oh well you know I can't just simply hand over that information, darling." He said with a grin, now leaning up against another tree. "If I did that it wouldn't do us both any good." He lied once again to her face. Yes, it would do her plenty of good, but at the same time he wouldn't able to go through with any future plans he had in mind.
"I tell you what though. I might just be able to give you a lead, but not here though. No. The trees here, they listen to everything. Better to meet somewhere like, hmmmmm, The Hogs Head maybe? I'll even buy you a drink for your trouble."

Dominique Weasley, after the heartbreak which had nearly brought her whole life to a standstill, had become particularly adept at sniffing out a lie when it was being used on her. She didn't like being used or feeling innocent and gullible anymore, after what it had done to her, and she prided herself in the art of seeing through a fib. Yet, now, as she stood in front of the Slytherin boy, she could only think 'maybe I ought to hear him out' despite the warning bells in her head.
She scoffed at his words, knowing he wouldn't have given the truth up easily. He'd want something in return and Dom wondered just how far she would go to get the truth. Dom, for a very sensible person, could be awfully stupid in er ambitious drive to get what she wanted, sometimes. "I should've known," she scoffed but then staightened up. ""But you do know who it was though," she noted.
She frowned, looking around as he mentioned the possibility of hearing things. She didn't know what he meant but she shrugged. As long as she got the effing lead. ""Give me a time and date" she said.

Marcus listened to the Weasley intently as she spoke, half questioning him if he really did know who it was. A part of him right then wanted to jump out, to spill the beans (pardon the lame term) and just shout "Yeah! He's standing in front of you. Also two other girls who I screw around with helped in the plan to make sure you're nasty self doesn't come between good friends of ours.", But his mind knew better, and he simply gave a nod in response as he spoke. "Yeah, I know" He simply said, not playing into it any further than what he had already done.
Blue eyes watched as a frown appeared over the girls face. He knew then that she didn't want to meet with him once more, but yet if she wanted the information bad enough (and that little shiver in his flesh said she did) she would by into it and agree to meet him. When she asked for a time and a date he grinned a bit. "Next saturday at noon. Come alone or the deal is off." He spoke, unfolding his arms and standing upright, beginning to prepare for his departure. "I'll know if you do or not." He added. "Also, don't tell anyone about this meeting. It's bad enough that I bumped into you, but if I get labeled with associating with a Weasley, well...you know." He smirked and then turned to start walking.
Step after step he drew himself away from the girl. "I'll be watching." He spoke, wanting to place a little bit of fear into her head before he continued down the path he had once come, drawing himself out of the line of sight and back onto the castle grounds.
