Bri stood outside of the Three Broomsticks as she awaited the arrival of one of her friends. Many people would guess it would've been one of her 3 other best friends who she was always seen around. But not this time, believe it or not but they had friends outside their little group. But many people would find it surprising that Bri was hanging out with her friend, Marcus Harding. People found their friendship surprising in general. Let alone the fact that they could actually hang out and get along like most friends did. So if anyone won the award for unlikely friends it would be the two of them.
Bri had first met Marcus at one of those pureblood family gatherings. Their parents tried to arrange them together to keep that tradition of purebloods in the family. But it didn't work for many reasons. But despite that horrid and fail attempt, the two still somehow befriended each other. And their parents also approved of their friendship as well. Bri was there for Marcus to keep him from reaching the point of insanity. And that boy definately needed someone like her to keep him sane and relaxed.
She leaned against the front wall of the restaurant as she skimmed the crowds of people for the boy. They already planned to meet there at that time. Hopefully he wouldn't blow her off but she didn't see any reason why he would do so. After all he was the one who suggested they would hang out that Hogsmeade Weekend when they were working on a project together in class. Well she was working on the project while he gave her some constructive criticism or whatever. When she caught glance of him she smiled and waved him over.

"Bloody hell!" Marcus screamed out as he rushed his way up from the shortcut passage that lead from Hogwarts to Hogsmeade. Yes, it was another one of those days for the poor boy. He awoke to find a letter from his father on his chest, which for the most part was always a bad sign. He opened and skimmed through it, knowing that the first part always started out the same with the whole 'I love you boy, but yer mad' approach, but as his blue eyes skimmed the bottom of the letter, his blood boiled and an anger unlike any other arose in his chest. Luckily though, he was meeting Bri today in Hogsmeade, but as he turned to look at the clock he found that he was running late, which made the morning even worse.
His shoes hit the cobbled stone pavement with precision and speed, now knowing that if he didn't get there soon she would think he had stood her up and probably leave the place. That has happened before, and intentional mind you. Marcus and Bri were the unlikely sort to become friends. He was from Slytherin and she was a Hufflepuff. The only thing really tying the two together was the fact that their families knew each other and at one of the countless gatherings they had, they tried to set them up to keep the blood line pure. Of course, it didn't work out. Marcus didn't want to be tied down, and the girl was too easily manipulated for his tastes. Still, they had become friends, and rather close ones at that. Whenever he needed her, she was there to listen, but in typical behavior he was never there for her unless the situation was dire enough.
Turning onto one street and shoving himself past a few people, Marc made it to his destination. He paused for a moment just before the building, taking a moment to calm his breath and look into the window of an adjacent building to adjust his appearance. Reaching up, he straightened the scarf around his neck and the proceeded on, now walking at a normal pace. It didn't take long to find her. His blue eyes darted over to the wall of the restaurant where she had been known to lean against in several other previous encounters. Their eyes locked and Bri waved him over to join. Walking up, he stuck his hands in his coat pockets and began to explain. "I know I'm late. My alarm didn't go off and plus I got another letter from daddy-dearest." He said, not apologizing for his tardiness.

Bri could already tell that Marcus was having a rough morning. Not only was it what he told her, but it was also the whole vibe that she was getting from him. Which meant she would be stuck playing psychologist and just listen to his rants and try to suggest some ways to help him. Not like she minded it that much. After all she didn't want to see him go mentally insane because he had no one to talk to. Plus she always got rants from all her friends and usually expected nothing in return. She especially learned to expect nothing in return from Marcus. He was one of those guys who put himself before others and only kept the people around who were of some use of him. Which was why most people didn't like being around him, but Bri didn't mind. She felt as if she owed him that much considering how far back their families have gone back.
Marcus didn't apologize for being late. But she really didn't expect any different coming from him. She was going to make some sarcastic comment about it when he also mentioned the note from his father. She knew that definately would have put him in a bad mood. And she didn't feel like dealing with him getting upset about things and directing it at her. "It's fine." she said as if accepting the apology he didn't even give her. Maybe that would be some meek and non-offensive way to get him to be more polite. But she doubted it.
"Another letter? What a lovely way to start the day." she said sarcastically knowing that whenever this letters happened it was never any type of good news. She gave him a concerned look. "Do you want to talk about it? Because I don't mind listening at all." she said. It was the better approach than rudely asking what happened and nosing into his business. It was the more laid-back approach. Like a free deal being offered. And she doubted that he would reject her offer.
A few other students walked into the Three Broomsticks as Bri watched them and turned back to him. "We should head in so we can actually get a seat. We can talk over a butterbeer or something." she offered. That way they wouldn't have their conversation standing outside the restuarant.
